The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, stages a play to take over the reins of Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting off his makeup to filming in sub-zero temperatures, Colin Farrell and Christine Milioti talk about how they got into character during the production of The Penguin. Colin Farrell struggled to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out. For his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user, with a preference for cigars.
Farrell STOLE this series
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Featured in Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). He’s impressive.
The show is brutal and graphic
There’s nothing about the character that even hints at Farrell. The New York dialect, the sway and the limp, the attitude: you would swear it was a different person. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and add to the character. There is nothing cartoonish about it.
It’s a shame
Well written and tight. It makes a great counterpart to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I would say it blows the Marvel line. I hope this can be a season 2, but I know that’s limited.
