If you’re looking at this series through a narrative lens, the pieces don’t fit together
Scenario
It tells the story of three very different families competing to buy the same 1920s Spanish-style villa that they think will solve all their problems. The exterior shots of the house are similar to the same house Mitchell and Cam lived in on Modern Family.
There were too many red herrings
We delved so much into each character’s backstory that the overall story doesn’t feel strong enough to stay on track. It all comes together in the end.
It definitely would have been stronger without the ensemble
There are a lot of familiar faces, so I understand why they did it. There were a few weak characters, both in terms of writing and acting.
I think it’s time Netflix gave Linda Cardellini her own series
Some of the others seemed to struggle with the balance between comedy and drama. The best part by far… “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.
