Probably because Keira Knightly is in it
Scenario
Helen begins a passionate affair with a man who has no idea of her secret identity. Caught in the crosshairs when her lover falls victim to the dangerous London underworld, Helen’s employer calls Sam to protect her. There is a scene where the characters discuss their favorite Christmas movies. None of them mention Love, Actually, a very popular Christmas movie.
The British are good at dry, dark humor
It starred Graham Norton and stars Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024). I watched it straight after its release and lost interest a few times. It has a Guy Ritchie feel to it, but it doesn’t quite live up to The Gentlemen f.i. It’s probably important for future viewers that it has a comedic element.
I try to think of what could have made the show better
I think the reason for the loss of interest is that the plot is disjointed and sometimes hard to follow. Not because it’s a prestigious magazine, but because they convey the essence of the story in a disjointed, even chaotic, way. You try to stay on track, but sometimes you wonder what exactly it was. And in my opinion, there are way too many characters that overwhelm the plot and the show as a whole.
But that missed the mark
And that’s the plot that’s not well-written and what could have made it great. Maybe they intentionally made it chaotic to give it an edge and more comedic value. It’s not bad, but it’s definitely not good either. I wouldn’t pick up a second season.
