Brian Tyree Henry replaced Ice Cube
Scenario
The story of Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields, a boxer from Flint, Michigan, trained to become the first woman in her country’s history to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport. In the movie Claressa, her father gets out of prison while she’s sixteen and preparing for the Olympics. In fact, Bo Shields left prison when she was nine, and after his release, he became interested in boxing.
But it’s easy for runners, gymnasts, and swimmers
T-Rex Version (2015). Honestly, I’m ashamed that I’ve never heard of Claressa Shields. How can she win two and not become a household name?
Again, I couldn’t say any successful Olympic boxer
It just goes to show that women have a long way to go, because if it were a man, I’m sure it would be different. Maybe I’m just completely ignorant about a lot of sports. Whatever it is, this movie brought attention to a real issue.
It was sad and embarrassing
As far as a sports movie goes, what makes this movie interesting is that it’s not about her winning gold. It’s just half way there. It’s more about the struggle over what happened after Claressa became world champion.
A wonderful surprise for my first unseen screener
I really enjoyed this movie, it’s worth your time and it’s beautifully done. The acting by Ryan Destiny and Brian Henry is phenomenal! It was an AMC screener that was unseen on December 16th.
